While your first line of defense against intrusion is Secure-All security doors, there are some other areas of your home that are known to be vulnerable points of forced entry. Recently, Denver's Channel 9 News did a story on break-ins through garage doors. Many of the points raised are areas of concern we have known about for years. While you watch the video, pay attention to the following points:

• Burglars use the easiest entry point into your home. The easiest entry points include your doors and your garage door.
• Alarm systems ARE NOT DESIGNED TO KEEP BURGLARS OUT. By the time the police are called, a visual inspection many times reveals no obvious forced entry. In documented cases, burglars are known to wait inside and watch as the police leave. Once the police are gone, the burglars do their dirty work. That's not to say, however, that an alarm has no value. The advance warning an alarm system provides can be very beneficial, especially while you're away. You may come home to a badly damaged house with your valuables missing, but at least you have been forewarned of trouble.
• Removing the emergency release cable from your garage door and placing a zip tie on the release mechanism can help prevent forced entry trough garage doors.
• These intrusions are affecting ALL neighborhoods. Don't think because you live in a "good neighborhood" that you're safe. The good neighborhoods are the most targeted.
